We're not saying that you have to wear only unstructured hemp dresses for the rest of your life, but we do think you could be making a better environmental choice than heaping gallons of Tide into your washing machine. Meet Dropps. They're eco-conscious little things, and may be the answer to reducing the solid waste that comes from everyone trying to keep clean.
Dropps is a "super-concentrated liquid laundry detergent packaged in a pre-measured dissolvable packet," and with 25 billion loads of wash being done in the U.S. every year, the company estimates that if everyone switched to their product, we would save more than six million gallons of diesel gas, more than two million pounds of plastic and more than 600,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions (in transport).
The company's reasoning is: a regular jug of liquid detergent contains only a tiny percentage of cleaning agent, diluted by lots of water. They even make the comparison to the waste produced by bottled water.
