You know that if you're opening up a restaurant next to all-star eateries by Bobby Flay and Wolfgang Puck, you've hit the jackpot.
This June Michael Schulson will debut Izakaya at the Borgata. Izakaya, Japanese for "pub", will feature hot and cold appetizers, a la carte grilled meats and fishes, a sushi bar, tempura selections and an array of entrees. The 180-seat space is inspired by classical Japanese teahouses and Schulson will keep Japanese culinary heritage alive while infusing a modern touch.
Get ready to try his Kobe beef tartar with tapioca, mint and flatbread and lobster ramen broth with lemongrass, tobiko and bok choy. Izakaya will also offer a huge range of sake, plus tea service.
Michael Schulson, of Style Network's "Pantry Raid", lived in Japan, where his appreciation for the culture and its cooking flourished. He's also had posts at Pod and Buddakan in New York.
