Spring temps might have us daydreaming about sun and sand, but mushrooms? Yes, mushroom season is upon us and if you're a fan of the fungi--then we've got you covered.
Mushroom lovers will be thrilled to hear about Lacroix's upcoming Morel Mushroom and Wine Dinner on May 7. This top-rated restaurant in the Rittenhouse Hotel will be infusing its dishes that evening with the delicious flavor of the morel mushrooms.
Chef Matthew Levin, a Philadelphia native, will combine Spanish, Portuguese, Thai, Japanese and American flavors to create his own distinct flavor. The mushroom dishes will include smoked salmon in white morel stock with tempura and mint, veal saddle with fava beans, hand-rolled orecchiette with pecorino and poached morels with star anis and vanilla. Sommelier Eric Simonis will also pull through to pair wines with each dish.
Morel Mushroom and Wine Dinner at Lacroix at 6:30 p.m., $120 per person. Call 215.790.2533 for reservations.
