Fall into Fashion

IT SEEMS THAT everyone’s datebooks fill up fast this time of year, mine included. Charity galas, dinner parties and special receptions have replaced summer’s lazy days.

The city’s theater season is back in full swing, and last-minute reservations at your favorite restaurants are a little tougher to come by.

The arrival of fall also reignites the city’s unmistakable passion for fashion. It’s not just that summer’s casual styles have given way to the luxe fabrics and smart cuts that signal this exciting shift. It’s also the fashion-centric events that celebrate its return, like Philadelphia Fashion Week and a new weeklong celebration of style organized by the city, which features some of its most popular shops and boutiques and takes place September 23 through October 2.

Philadelphia Style is no exception. Our Fall Fashion Issue’s cover girl, Kerry Washington—who is not only an amazingly talented actress but also one of the elite darlings of the fashion world—models some of the season’s most exciting looks.

Brides-to-be will find the latest styles for their big day in addition to on-trend formalwear and accessories for bridesmaids and groomsmen in our Bridal Guide. As always, we’ve included a comprehensive directory of the pros that we call on for invitations, music and party planning.
